Porsche described Mission S as “a first glimpse of the brand’s evolved design identity” that also represents a “super sports car platform” that will be positioned above its iconic 911 sports car.

The vehicle’s design is recognizably Porsche but with more aggressive styling compared with its current models, including new hood vents and a roof scoop. Its rear features more differentiated flair in which the vehicle’s spoiler flows into its rear panels.

“A Porsche must be recognisable as a Porsche at first glance,” Porsche Chairman Michael Leiters said in a release. “The Mission S provides a glimpse of the ideas and design features that will shape Porsche in the coming years.”

Automakers routinely use concept vehicles to gauge customer interest, showcase future technologies and signal the direction of a vehicle or brand.

The company did not release expected pricing or performance specifications for such future models. Starting prices for its current 911 models range from roughly $135,500 for an entry-level Carrera to more than $203,000 for a Carrera 4 GTS convertible.

Porsche’s operating margin last year was only 1.1%, compared with 14.1% in 2024, as the company deals with increased costs, U.S. tariffs and declining sales in China.

The turnaround plan includes a long-term target for a group ‌operating margin of 15% and a midterm breakeven point of 200,000 units or below annually. That compares with sales of 279,449 in 2025.

“So Jessica, Luke, Josh and Sergey are safely in orbit. They are out of their suits at this time, and because of the short phasing period, the crew are going to have an opportunity to rest up a little bit before rendezvousing with the International Space Station,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said following the launch.

“All in-orbit checkouts are complete and Dragon is healthy. It was an incredible launch. I’d like to thank all of those who contribute to it, right from the top with our president, President Trump, all the way through congressional leadership,” he added.

SpaceX said that “during their time on the orbiting laboratory, the crew will conduct new research to prepare for human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and to benefit humanity on Earth.”

“The Dragon spacecraft supporting this mission previously flew the Ax-4 mission to and from the space station. This will be the third flight for the first stage supporting this mission, which previously launched Crew-12 and one Starlink mission,” according to SpaceX. “Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage will land on Landing Zone 40 (LZ-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.”

A United Nations fact-finding mission said there was evidence to believe that the U.S. committed war crimes during the Iran war, lending credibility to Tehran’s similar claims.

There are “reasonable grounds” to believe that Washington’s forces “committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects,” the UN’s Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran said on Thursday.

The mission pointed out the Tomahawk missile strike on a primary school that killed more than 150 people in the city of Minab, and another airstrike where missiles were used against a “clearly identifiable sports complex and residential area,” killing 22 civilians.

The report said the school was the intended point of impact, and the resulting damage wasn’t the result of an errant strike or collateral damage from an attack on a compound of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard next to the school.

The experts said they found no information indicating that the school was used for military purposes at the time.

A State Department Official said the U.S. does not give credibility to the report’s findings, adding that the UN council “pushes anti-American rhetoric and antisemitism” and “appeases repressive regimes.”

CNBC has reached out to the Pentagon for comments.

The Associated Press reported that the White House has also pushed back on the report, with spokesperson Anna Kelly saying “The only party in this conflict that has committed war crimes is the Iranian regime.”

The fact-finding mission also charged Iran with human rights violations and “crimes against humanity committed.”

Washington had withdrawn from the UN Human Rights Council via an executive order from President Donald Trump in February 2025, saying that some UN agencies and bodies, including the council, were acting contrary to the interests of the U.S.

Separately, hopes are rising again that negotiations around the Middle East conflict could restart. According to an MS NOW report, government officials have said that a meeting between Gulf Arab nations, the U.S. and Iran could take place around the time of the United Nations General Assembly next week.

The report comes as the U.S. approved the Iranian delegation’s travel to attend the United Nations General Assembly. A State Department spokesperson said that the delegation will be under travel restrictions, and will be prohibited from purchasing luxury or other goods.

The AP reported that Tehran’s delegation is expected to include President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Iran and Oman on Tuesday discussed a proposal to establish a temporary joint shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz as well as a mission to clear mines from the key oil export corridor.

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi said he was hopeful such a corridor through Hormuz and “practical arrangements to restore safe navigation” will be announced soon. He described talks with Iran’s top diplomat Seyed Abbas Araghchi in Tehran as constructive.

The proposed framework with Iran includes a joint project to clear the strait of mines, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said in a social media post after the diplomats’ meeting. Muscat and Tehran would continue talks to reach an agreement on a permanent corridor and administration system for the strait, the ministry said.

Oman’s reference to a mine clearing mission appeared to contradict President Donald Trump’s statement earlier Tuesday that the U.S. Navy informed him all mines had been removed from international waters in Hormuz.

The Iran-Oman talks come a day after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. would sanction any country that does business with the Islamic Republic. Trump threatened earlier this month to bomb Oman, a U.S. ally, if it “gets in the way.”

Tech billionaire Elon Musk‘s legal battle against OpenAI kicked off with a bang on Tuesday, with his attorney alleging CEO Sam Altman “stole a charity” to build a massive, profit-driven empire.

In a federal courtroom in Oakland, California, Musk’s lawyer, Steven Molo, told jurors that OpenAI completely abandoned its founding mission to safely develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.

Instead, Molo argued, OpenAI transformed the organization into a “profit-seeking juggernaut” because leaders were “interested in collecting riches for themselves.”

Musk, who co-founded the company in 2015, is seeking $150 billion in damages from OpenAI and its major investor, Microsoft, with the proceeds slated to go to OpenAI’s charitable arm.

The Tesla and SpaceX founder is also demanding that OpenAI revert to a nonprofit that will “benefit humanity,” and that Altman and the president, Greg Brockman, be removed from leadership.

Molo emphasized Musk’s foundational role, noting he provided roughly $38 million in initial funding and recruited top talent, saying, “Without Elon Musk, there would be no OpenAI.”

OpenAI is arguing Musk was aware of and supported the transition to a for-profit model in 2019, and only filed suit after he failed to take over as CEO and launched his own rival AI firm, xAI.

Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., decried the Polymarket page that allowed users to bet on which day the U.S. would confirm the rescue of the two airmen after an American F-15E fighter jet was shot down over Iran. The lawmaker called the page “DISGUSTING” in an X post.

“They could be your neighbor, a friend, a family member,” Moulton wrote on Friday. “And people are betting on whether or not they’ll be saved.”

In a response on X, Polymarket said: “We took this market down immediately as it does not meet our integrity standards.”

“It should not have been posted, and we are investigating how this slipped through our internal safeguards,” Polymarket wrote.

In a separate X post, Polymarket said it doesn’t “make money or charge any fees on any geopolitical markets.”

U.S. and Iranian military forces are searching for a missing American airman after its F-15E fighter jet was shot down over Iran on Friday. One crew member has been rescued, but another is not accounted for.

Moulton last month banned his staff from using prediction market platforms like Polymarket or Kalshi, a policy that his office believes is the first of its kind in Congress.

“Constituents that we serve should trust us to make decisions based on the right thing for do for our nation, not based on how bets might turn out,” Moulton said Monday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

Moulton also said on X that Donald Trump Jr., the son of President Donald Trump, “is an investor in this dystopian death market and may have access to intelligence that isn’t public yet.”

Requests for comment from Moulton and Trump Jr. weren’t immediately returned to CNBC.

The Massachusetts lawmaker is part of a growing chorus of voices in Washington calling for stronger oversight of these betting platforms as interest swells.

A group of congressional Democrats introduced legislation late last month that would bar prediction markets from allowing wagers on elections, war and government actions, in addition to sports.

In February, six Democratic senators urged the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to clarify that it will prohibit any contracts related to an individual’s death. These contracts “present dangerous national security risks,” the lawmakers wrote.

The CFTC on Thursday announced lawsuits against three states over what it saw as efforts to circumvent the organization’s sole regulatory authority over prediction markets.

The NFL has also asked prediction market operators to keep specific event contracts that the league deems “objectionable bets” off their platforms. The league outlined examples of event contracts that could be easily manipulated, inherently objectionable, related to officiating, and knowable in advance — and asked that operators refrain from offering such trades.

The once-impenetrable Arctic waters have become the latest battleground for sea dominance among military and maritime vessels, as increased activity by both the Chinese and Russian Coast Guard and naval ships in recent months has raised concern in the U.S.

The Northwest Passage, a sea route extending north of Canada that connects the Arctic Ocean to the North Atlantic, can save approximately 4,500 nautical miles in transit time. That can cut a vessel’s trip from the Far East to Europe, and from Russia to Europe, in half, saving both time and money on bunker fuel. Warmer temperatures have extended the travel season for vessels traversing this waterway, with frozen routes carved out by polar icebreakers, and Russian and Chinese icebreakers dominating the region.

More than 1,800 ships traveled on the Arctic polar waterway in 2025, a 40 percent increase from 2013. In 2025, China completed 14 voyages, including a Cosco containership, the first containership to make a journey through the waterway.

“From an economic and commercial standpoint, it makes sense for shippers to be interested in the development in that region to save time,” said Aaron Roth, principal and head of federal strategy and security at the Chertoff Group.

Russia has a fleet of 45 icebreakers in the polar region, including eight nuclear-powered vessels. China has three, with a nuclear-powered polar icebreaker reportedly under construction. The U.S. currently has three icebreakers, but one of them is 50 years old.

“The reason that we have fallen so far behind in the race to the Arctic or for the icebreakers is basically funding the United States Coast Guard,” said Lou Sola, former Federal Maritime Commission Chairman and partner at lobbying firm Thorn Run Partners. “The Coast Guard has been plagued by maintenance issues and is trying to get proper supplies. They’ve been resorting to cannibalizing one ship to use its parts on another so they can have an operational ship. As a result, overall shipbuilding has really taken a toll. Especially the icebreakers,” he said.

President Donald Trump has increased focus on domestic shipbuilding initiatives, including polar icebreakers. But Trump is not alone with his concerns about the Arctic activity, with NATO’s European commander citing the growing presence of Russia and China in the Arctic as a threat.

Maritime officials say the increased Arctic activity is a national security issue and stress that the U.S is considered an Arctic nation.

“These Arctic security cutters that the Coast Guard’s building will provide the sovereignty, the freedom of navigation, and capability and capacity in that region that we currently do not have,” Roth said. “We certainly don’t want them to gain advantages in locations in the high north,” he added.

The concerns overlap with other…
