President Donald Trump turned against Fox News on Tuesday night in a string of posts on Truth Social while Democratic wins rolled in during a historic midterm election.

Trump blamed the network, which he’s long championed, for Republican losses, saying in one post on his social media network that it “bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition.”

Democrats took control of both the Senate and House of Representatives, flipping seats in states usually favorable to Republicans, including Texas, South Carolina and Kansas.

Trump also pointed to Fox’s recent ratings as evidence of the network’s decline.

“FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats! All of those people who used to watch Fox, and no longer do, get it. It’s them, not me,” he posted.

Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In a press release last week, Fox News reported 1.1 million average viewers for October, down about 27% from the same month a year prior.

Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch noted the decline during the company’s quarterly earnings call on Monday, citing “viewer fatigue.”

However, Murdoch said such a shift is expected in the lead-up to a midterm election with a second-term president and said it was not the result of viewers turning to competitors’ coverage.

“Those viewers are not going to any other news channel. They’re not switching to MS NOW or to CNN,” he said. “They’re just fatigued and watching slightly less television overall.”

Versant-owned MS NOW and Skydance-owned CNN both reported primetime viewership was up by double digits in October compared with the year-ago period. However, both networks still had smaller total-day average audiences than Fox News.

MS NOW had 588,000 average viewers in October across all day parts, and CNN had 402,000, according to Nielsen data cited by Fox.

Despite Fox News’ year-over-year drop in viewership, the company reported an otherwise strong quarter in what Murdoch called an “outstanding start to fiscal 2027.”

Fox Corp., which includes the linear TV networks as well as entertainment and sports assets and a streaming business, reported revenue for its fiscal first quarter of $4.57 billion, up 22% year over year.

The company pointed to strength in advertising revenue, which increased 47%, buoyed by strong political advertising and the FIFA Men’s World Cup, which aired in part on Fox platforms across June and July.

Trump is a frequent critic of media companies, especially broadcasters that he views as being biased against him. While he’s repeatedly taken aim at NBC and Disney-owned ABC, the president has had a much friendlier relationship with Fox and its networks.

Trump appeared on Fox News‘ “Hannity” on Monday night ahead of the election.

Disclosure: CNBC and MS NOW are divisions of Versant Media.

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng addressed the public for the first time Tuesday following a historic cyber theft exceeding $6 billion, confirming the company is absorbing 100% of the losses with no customer balances compromised.

“First of all, this should not have happened, and we apologize to our users for the disruption,” Teng told FOX Business national correspondent Darren Botelho on “Varney & Co.” “This is a highly sophisticated multi-month campaign and the FBI has attributed it to North Korea. They use a combination of fake recruitment interviews, malicious software disguised as developer tools, AI techniques to work their way in and then execute that at a speed our industry has never seen before. We have since then closed all the different entry points, rebuilt the affected system, and we just published a detailed report so that industry can learn from that.”

When asked whether Binance customers lost any of their money or investments, Teng responded: “No, not at all… Our company, we bear full responsibility.”

EXPERT WARNS OF ‘AI HACKING BLOODBATH’ FOLLOWING MASSIVE BINANCE CRYPTOCURRENCY HACK

“The full financial impact will be borne by us. Users are not compromised,” Teng elaborated. “We have set aside more than 100% of the amount, right? And 98% of impacted assets have been replenished. Customers can verify their balance through our proof of reserve. The remaining assets, the 2%, they belong to less-liquid tokens, and we need some time to procure them without affecting market functioning, and those are being procured.”

The FBI said Saturday that North Korean hackers were responsible for stealing more than $6 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance last week, linking one of the largest digital asset thefts in history to the regime in Pyongyang.

The FBI said it and its partners at the U.S. Secret Service and IRS Criminal Investigation observed the hackers converting stolen assets primarily into Ether (ETH). Authorities also said they expect the assets to be further laundered through decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms and instant cryptocurrency exchange services.

Shares of South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix have pared losses on Friday morning, following the company’s decision to halt a review of a potential U.S. initial public offering for its subsidiary Solidigm.

The stock bounced back from an earlier 3% decline to trade 0.3% lower.

“Solidigm will halt its review of potential pre-IPO and IPO options,” the company said in the statement after assessing recent capital market conditions and share price trends, while also exploring various funding options to finance a new U.S. semiconductor fabrication plant amid growing demand for AI memory.

The chip manufacturer said an IPO could have helped fund Solidigm’s expansion while providing greater financial flexibility for shareholder returns, including dividends, share buybacks and share cancellations.

However, financial market volatility had increased and contributed to a broader correction in semiconductor stocks, prompting SK Hynix to reassess whether an IPO would benefit existing shareholders.

The company also said that Solidigm’s existing production facilities had limited capacity to meet rising AI-driven memory demand, underscoring the need for additional manufacturing capacity in the U.S.

The decision also follows regulatory scrutiny in South Korea.

The country’s financial regulator said Monday that a potential U.S. listing of Solidigm could violate South Korean rules restricting dual listings, according to Reuters.

Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin said regulators were examining whether the IPO would require a review under the country’s rules designed to protect minority shareholders.

SK Hynix said Solidigm’s investment needs remain unchanged and that it would continue exploring alternative financing options to support the subsidiary’s growth and enhance shareholder value.

The announcement comes as U.S. technology stocks face pressure amid worries over AI spending. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slid 2.6% on Thursday, its worst session since June, while Nvidia fell 4.4% and Advanced Micro Devices dropped 8.1%.

Amid a sell-off in memory stocks, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told CNBC Thursday that he does not expect an oversupply of memory chips by 2029, despite concerns over weakening demand.

AI data center stocks have also come under pressure amid growing concerns over financing risks and the pace of AI infrastructure expansion. Shares of CoreWeave plunged 10% on Thursday, extending their monthly decline to 36%, while Australia’s NextDC tumbled nearly 40% on Wednesday after cutting its earnings forecast.

She was the telephone switch operator, and at one time she was part of the single largest occupation for white, U.S.-born women under age 20.

Today, that job doesn’t exist.

The world is struggling to figure out what the dawn of artificial intelligence means for society, culture and the economy. A lot of ordinary Americans are just wondering what it means for their jobs.

The history of technological progress — from automated telephone switches to the introduction of the washing machine and the personal computer — can offer some guidance. And that guidance suggests women are likely to be among the most affected by AI.

“AI is focused on routine tasks and numbers and finding patterns, and those types of jobs are the clerical, administrative jobs that a lot of women hold,” said Ariane Hegewisch, a senior research fellow at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. “It’s still 90% of secretaries and clerical workers who are women.”

New research backs this up. The International Labour Organization in March concluded that nearly one in 10 women in high-income countries works in occupations at the highest risk from AI.

In the 1940s, nearly 95% of America’s telephone operators were female. It was a relatively well-paying job for women at the time, and a complicated one: It took months of training to be able to handle the several hundred calls an hour that could come in at peak times. Operators were expected to be speedy, precise — and polite.

These women were hit hard when AT&T introduced the automated telephone switch. It was one of the largest automation investments in history — a close analog to the massive AI investment now underway — and created one of the biggest technological shocks the nation had ever seen.

In the decades after the automatic switch was popularized, an estimated 75,000 operator jobs vanished.

Economists James Feigenbaum from Boston University and Daniel P. Gross from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business studied census and paycheck data from the time and followed local employment trends along the path of AT&T’s rolling investment in switches across the nation.

Shares of Mercari jumped more than 4% on Friday, extending their rebound from a selloff sparked by the Japanese online marketplace’s restrictions on listings of Pokémon’s 30th anniversary products announced Tuesday.

The company said the restrictions would remain in place for as long as it determines that a safe and secure trading environment cannot be ensured.

Its shares closed 6.4% lower on Wednesday, the day the restrictions took effect, before recovering to close 1.4% higher on Thursday.

The stock was also outperforming the Nikkei 225 on Friday morning, which was up roughly 1%.

Mercari said it imposed the temporary listing ban over concerns that a surge in transactions following the release of the anniversary products could lead to trading disputes, as well as harassment of users involved in transactions.

Citibank attributed Wednesday’s more than 6% drop to Mercari’s announcement of the Pokémon card listing restrictions. It said Mercari’s recent share-price weakness had pushed the stock to “overly pessimistic levels,” calling the shares “oversold” and the pullback an investment opportunity.

Growth in the value of goods sold on Mercari’s marketplace in the second half of fiscal 2026 exceeded expectations, while a recovery across multiple categories could support double-digit growth, the bank added.

Citi also said that the halt to trading of certain products was negative for Mercari, but said the impact was not significant enough for the bank to revise its forecasts.

The restrictions come amid a global Pokémon card boom. Online marketplace eBay said “Pokémon” was searched more than six million times on its U.K. site in July, underscoring continued demand for trading cards.

Pokémon card prices have surged 1,350% since 2020, according to an index compiled by Collectors, which owns card grading agency Professional Sports Authenticator, CNBC previously reported. In February, influencer Logan Paul sold a rare Pikachu Illustrator card for more than $16 million, after buying it for just over $5 million in 2021. New cards can sell out within minutes, with people coordinating on X and Discord to know where to go.

A post on X this month claimed that a Pokémon card sold for $2.7 million at auction, setting a record.

Mercari signed an agreement with The Pokémon Company in 2023 to promote safer trading of Pokémon products on its marketplace, and introduced a policy in 2025 allowing it to restrict listings when issues such as fraud, transaction disputes or extreme price swings threaten marketplace safety.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday will test his endorsement power as South Carolina GOP Sen. Darline Graham squares off against Rep. Ralph Norman in a special Republican primary runoff election, in her bid to replace her late brother Lindsey Graham for a full six-year Senate term.

The race pits two Trump allies against each other. Norman is a hardline member of the House Freedom Caucus. But his initial support for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in the 2024 GOP presidential primaries and his tendency to raise fiscal concerns about some of the president’s priorities have at times strained his relationship with Trump. The president throughout this election cycle has targeted fellow Republican lawmakers who have opposed him or his policies.

Graham, who has a brief political track record, has enjoyed Trump’s enthusiastic support since the days after her brother died unexpectedly in July. Trump, who had a close relationship with Lindsey Graham, traveled to South Carolina to campaign with Graham last week and held a tele-rally for her on Monday.

The winner of Tuesday’s runoff will face Democrat Annie Andrews in November’s general election. The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter labels the race “Solid R.” Lindsey Graham was favored to win reelection before his death.

“[T]here is nobody better to honor the legacy of her beloved brother, Lindsey. Darline, who comes from an absolutely incredible family, has been a WINNER all of her life, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement in the Special Election for U.S. Senate in South Carolina,” Trump posted to TruthSocial on Monday.

Trump’s full-throated support of Graham, however, could prove risky for the president who is the de facto head of the party and who has traditionally played kingmaker, but has suffered a series of recent losses.

Graham, who had never been elected to office prior to her appointment by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster in July to serve out the remainder of her brother’s term, suffered an embarrassing moment in a debate with Norman last week.

Asked to comment on the importance of Taiwan to U.S. interests, Graham copped that she was “not that informed on national security,” raising questions about her fitness for the job. Graham has since defended her performance, arguing during an appearance on Fox News that she doesn’t “speak politician.”

Norman, who launched an unsuccessful bid for South Carolina governor earlier this year, seized on the moment, casting himself as the proven conservative in the race.

“My opponent is unknown. She’s being backed by the Washington establishment,” Norman said in a recent appearance on Fox News. “She’s a propped up candidate. You could tell that during the debates. This is an important job. There is…

Almost 16 years after the Boston-based group rescued Liverpool from the brink of administration for a cut-price £300 million ($405.9 million), FSG partially cashes out with an enormous return on investment after a remarkable turnaround that saw the Merseyside club win multiple domestic and European trophies.

But while English football clubs are increasingly drawing interest from sophisticated investors across the globe, they remain risky and often unprofitable ventures.

Deloitte’s annual football finance review found that aggregate pre-tax losses for the 20 English Premier League clubs totaled £948 million in the 2024/25 season, a “notable deterioration” of more than 600% from the previous season.

Inflated transfer fees for players are a key driver of high operating costs.

“With expenditure on player transfers having grown to keep pace with the ever-escalating race for talent, the likelihood is that this will have been another year of substantial financial losses,” Deloitte researchers wrote.

But FSG’s Liverpool deal demonstrates the opportunity to buy undervalued assets and sell them on at higher prices later, with growing interest in the game propelling teams to ever-higher valuations.

“Even if you’re not making a profit day-in, day-out, the value of the asset is still going up, and there are plenty of assets within it that can then be licensed out,” Richard Haigh, global managing director at Brand Finance, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Europe” on Monday.

This is down to the reputation and scarcity that specifically elite clubs can offer, Haigh said.

“The English Premier League really does help UK soft power,” he added. “It is one of the oldest leagues in the sporting world, it has a global reach, and it is extremely lucrative in boosting business values to those who sponsor it.”

Hackers started taking bitcoin stored using Coinkite’s popular Coldcard hardware wallet on July 31.

Canadian company Coinkite said that a firmware bug in Coldcard Mk3 devices — starting with version 4.0.1 in March 2021 — caused seed generation to fall back to a weak software Pseudorandom Number Generator instead of the hardware true random number generator, allowing hackers to essentially guess investor seedphrases.

The number has slowly risen as the criminals have targeted more recent devices while Coinkite and other Bitcoiners have urged Coldcard users to immediately move their funds.

Galaxy Research last week said that it estimates at least 15 separate attackers were exploiting the bug independently.

Previous research from Galaxy found that the typical stolen coin had sat untouched for 3.5 years, and a striking 88% of pilfered funds were at least a year old.

The firm is still confirming how much is stolen, and has said that total losses could exceed $130 million.

Since the attack, cautious investors have been moving their coins to other storage solutions — including exchanges.

Coinkite said in a statement this week that the bug in its software “silently went unnoticed” and “its potential impact grew with every release” of its products.

Days after the first hack, the company urged investors to update their software or move their funds off the popular hardware wallet.

South Korea’s finance minister apologized on Wednesday after retail investors racked up heavy losses from leveraged bets on stocks, following rule changes earlier this year.

The May 27 introduction of single-stock leveraged Exchange Traded Funds has seen Korean retail investors pile in with net purchases of 14 trillion won ($9.7 billion), compared with roughly 2 trillion won by foreign investors, according to KB Financial Group.

But the speculative trading boom that helped fuel one of the world’s hottest equity markets has resulted in those investors nursing heavy losses as Korea’s Kospi index has experienced a sharp correction, led by a downturn in chip stocks.

The pain has been especially acute for holders of single-stock leveraged ETFs tied to chip giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which had surged alongside the AI-driven semiconductor rally.

The KODEX SK Hynix Single Stock Leverage ETF — a product designed to deliver twice the daily move in SK Hynix shares — has fallen more than 80% since its June 23 peak, according to LSEG data.

The equivalent product tracking Samsung has fallen almost 75% from its peak on June 3.

It comes after a blistering rally in the Kospi has come to an abrupt halt, with jitters over chip stocks seeing the value of the index plunging almost 35% over the last month.

South Korea’s finance minister Koo Yun-cheol accepted lawmakers’ demand for an apology in a parliamentary session on Wednesday after single-stock leveraged ETFs were introduced without careful consideration, according to Reuters.

The country’s Financial Services Commission Lee Eog-weon also said on Wednesday that the regulator is considering cutting off access to the products to all but professional investors.

Lee told the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee in Seoul that “if necessary, there is a way to raise [the investment requirements] up to professional investors,” according to the Seoul Economic Daily.

He added that regulators could lower the leverage multiple of single-stock leverage products if the necessary legislation is prepared by lawmakers.

Lee said: “Since [the tracking multiple of] two times is too large, lowering it would likely have an effect in terms of easing volatility.” He added, “We will look into how to take investors into account, such as through beneficiary general meetings, together during the process of considering the bill.”

Asian semiconductor stocks tumbled Thursday, as a sell-off in U.S. chipmakers spilled into the region, with SK Hynix continuing to see massive volatility since its U.S. listing last week.

Shares of SK Hynix tumbled over 9% in Seoul, reversing the previous session’s 8% rally. The stock had logged its steepest one-day decline on Monday, as investors locked in profits amid growing worries over AI spending.

Domestic rival Samsung Electronics dropped more than 7%. Seoul Semiconductor fell more than 5%, LG Innotek lost about 1%, and Samsung SDI was down over 2%.

The weakness spread across the region. In Japan, AI-linked equipment makers Advantest fell more than 6%, SoftBank Group slid nearly 7%, Tokyo Electron lost over 5%, while Renesas Electronics declined 4%.

The losses follow a sell-off in U.S. semiconductor shares overnight. Micron Technology sank 8%, Intel lost more than 4%, while Lam Research and Advanced Micro Devices each fell about 3%.

The declines comes despite strong results from ASML. The Dutch chip-equipment maker raised its full-year sales guidance for a second time this year, forecasting revenue of 43 billion euros to 45 billion euros, above analysts’ expectations, while outlining plans to further ramp production of its extreme ultraviolet lithography machines.

Louis Kondratev, trader at XFUNDs, said the recent pullback reflects how crowded semiconductor trades have become after a prolonged AI-driven rally.

“Semiconductors alone now make up roughly 20% of the S&P 500, which is incredibly difficult to sustain,” he said. He noted that during the dot-com bubble of 2000, semiconductors were just over 8% of the index, and they have historically averaged between 2% and 5%.

While earnings momentum has remained robust, he also warned the pace of gains may become harder to sustain as investors reassess lofty valuations.

“Earnings momentum has been very strong, but it’s mostly concentrated in semiconductors, and that momentum may begin to slow as valuations find their place,” he said.
