A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., declined a request by prosecutors to indict two Democratic U.S. senators, Mark Kelly of Arizona and Michigan’s Elissa Slotkin, on charges of seditious conspiracy, MS Now reported Tuesday night.

The attempted indictment of Kelly and Slotkin related to a video in November that they participated in with four other Democrats in Congress, on which they reminded members of the U.S. military that they have the right to refuse to follow illegal orders by superiors.

The video was released in response to ongoing extrajudicial killings by the U.S. military of crews of boats in the Caribbean and Pacific that allegedly were carrying narcotics.

The New York Times reported that federal prosecutors also tried and failed to obtain indictments against the other four Democrats, in addition to Kelly and Slotkin. Rep. Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire and Rep. Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania later indicated they were among the six reportedly targeted in the indictment effort.

The other two Democrats who made the video were Reps. Jason Crow of Colorado and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania.

It is extremely unusual for a grand jury to refuse to issue an indictment when a prosecutor seeks one. An indictment is a charging document that a grand jury will issue if jurors agree there is probable cause to believe a crime was committed.

President Donald Trump had condemned the Democrats for the video after it was made public on Nov. 18.

Trump at the time accused them of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

“This is an outrageous abuse of power by Donald Trump and his lackies,” said Kelly, who is a former U.S. Navy captain and NASA astronaut, in a statement on X on Tuesday, after news of the indictment effort broke.

“It wasn’t enough for [Defense Secretary] Pete Hegseth to censure me and threaten to demote me, now it appears they tried to have me charged with a crime — all because of something I said that they didn’t like. That’s not the way,” Kelly said.

Kelly is suing the Pentagon to challenge its censure of him, and its effort to reduce his rank because of his participation in the video.

The former CIA analyst Slotkin, in a statement, said, “Today, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro attempted to persuade a Grand Jury to indict me. This was in response to me organizing a 90-second video that simply quoted the law.”

“Pirro did this at the direction of President Trump, who said repeatedly that I should be investigated, arrested, and hanged for sedition,” Slotkin said. “Today, it was a grand jury of anonymous American citizens who upheld the rule of law and determined this case should not proceed. Hopefully, this ends this politicized investigation for good.”

“But today wasn’t just an embarrassing day for the Administration. It was another sad day for our country,” she said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said Tuesday night that he believes the six Democrats who made the video on illegal orders to the military should be indicted.

America’s largest bank, JPMorgan, has taken a bold step into the future of finance by issuing commercial debt on the Solana blockchain. This move has caught the attention of the broader crypto and traditional markets, as it marks one of the first times a US commercial debt was brought into a public blockchain.

JPMorgan Brings Commercial Debt Papers To Solana

According to a press release published on December 11, JPMorgan has successfully arranged a US Commercial Paper (USCP) Issuance for Galaxy Digital Holdings LP, an affiliate of Galaxy Inc., on the Solana blockchain. The issuance represents one of the earliest debt offerings executed on a public blockchain in the US.

JPMorgan had served as the arranger, creating the on-chain USCP token and managing the delivery-versus-payment settlement for the issuance. Meanwhile, Galaxy Digital Partners LLC had structured the offerings, while US technology company Coinbase Global Inc. and global investment management firm Franklin Templeton had purchased the issuance. 

Scott Lucas, the Head of Markets Digital Assets at JPMorgan, emphasized that the new commercial debt transaction was a key demonstration of institutional demand for digital assets and the transformative potential of blockchain technology in the future of financial markets. He added that, as a user-focused banking institution, JPMorgan is committed to meeting the evolving demand for digital asset exposures. 

Notably, the USPC token issuance is the first commercial paper offered by Galaxy, enhancing the company’s short-term funding capabilities and providing access to a broader institutional investor base interested in blockchain-based money-market instruments. Details from the press release reveal that both the issuance and the redemption proceeds will be paid in USDC stablecoins issued by Circle, marking a first for the US commercial paper market.

In the press release, Jason Urban, Global Head of Trading at Galaxy, stated that the issuance demonstrates how public blockchains can enhance the functioning of capital markets. He emphasized that bringing Galaxy’s first commercial paper offering on-chain and structuring one of the earliest US transactions of its kind are significant milestones. 

It underscores Galaxy’s vision of using open and programmable infrastructure to support institutional-level financial products. Urban also expressed satisfaction in collaborating with JPMorgan, Coinbase, Solana, and Franklin Templeton to integrate these innovations into daily market operations.

The company behind the Grand Theft Auto games fired more than 30 employees last week in what a union leader called an egregious example of union-busting, with some effects being felt in Canada.

Bloomberg reported last week that Rockstar Games, owned by Take-Two Interactive Software, terminated 34 employees in the U.K. and Canada.

A representative from the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) told CBC they believe three workers in Toronto were part of the firings. It wasn’t immediately clear if they were part of Rockstar’s Toronto studio — actually located in Oakville, Ont. — or one of their other studios based in the U.K. or the U.S.

News of the firings came shortly before an earnings call with Take-Two, where it was announced Rockstar’s upcoming and highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI had been further delayed and is now scheduled to launch in November 2026. This follows a previous delay, which pushed its initial release date from late 2025 to May 2026.

The IWGB said all of the employees were part of a private trade union chat group, and were either members of the union or attempting to unionize within the company.

“Rockstar has just carried out one of the most blatant and ruthless acts of union busting in the history of the games industry,” IWGB president Alex Marshall said in a statement. “This flagrant contempt for the law and for the lives of the workers who bring in their billions is an insult to their fans and the global industry.”

A spokesperson for Rockstar initially only said the employees were fired for “gross misconduct,” but days later said they were leaking company secrets with people outside the company.

The IWGB refuted those accusations, saying, “workers only communicated in private and legally protected trade union channels and did not leak any information publicly.”

Organizers with the IWGB led protests outside Rockstar and Take-Two’s offices in the U.K. earlier this week. According to GamesIndustry.biz, employees described the fired employees being “marched out of the building” with little warning or explanation, followed by “outrage, loss, grief” among those laid off and workers who remained.

‘Chilling effect’ on organizing in Canada

The Entertainment Software Association of Canada, which represents video game developers and publishers in Canada, declined to comment.
