Ford Motor (F) earnings Q3 2026

DETROIT — Ford Motor expects earnings next year will be roughly in line with the automaker’s anticipated results this year, the company said Wednesday as it reported mixed results for the third quarter.

The Detroit automaker beat Wall Street’s third-quarter earnings expectations but slightly missed revenue estimates. The company has been working to stabilize production of its F-Series pickup trucks after dealing with supplier issues for much of the past year.

“This quarter’s results reflect deliberate actions to improve profitability and deliver consistent financial returns,” Ford CFO Sherry House told reporters during a call Wednesday.

Ford reported third-quarter adjusted free cash flow of $4.7 billion, roughly $2 billion higher than what analysts were anticipating, according to StreetAccount.

Here’s how Ford performed in the third quarter, compared with average estimates compiled by LSEG:

  • Earnings per share: 49 cents adjusted vs. 40 cents expected
  • Automotive revenue: $46.08 billion vs. $46.24 billion expected

The Detroit automaker also narrowed its 2026 guidance to adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of between $10.5 billion and $11 billion, compared with a previous outlook of $10 billion to $11 billion. Ford maintained its adjusted free cash flow guidance for this year of between $6 billion and $7 billion.

House said the company expects 2027 earnings to be roughly in line with this year’s results, citing several offsetting factors in production issues this year as well as rising commodity costs.

House noted a $1.3 billion tariff refund during the first quarter of this year was largely offset by additional costs from alternative aluminum sourcing that the company does not expect to have next year, leveling out the year-over-year comparison.

She also said production of its F-Series Super Duty trucks in Canada in 2027 will make up for lost production it’s expecting at its F-150 factories to retool for new models.

“Next year will be the third year on our journey of increasing and improving our warranty and material cost savings, and that’s getting extended to structural costs throughout the company as well in terms of savings,” House said.

Ford CEO Jim Farley called 2027 a “foundational year” for the company on its way to a previously announced target of an 8% adjusted EBIT margin by 2029. The company reported a 5.4% margin during the third quarter.

Ahead of the results, Wall Street analysts were mixed about whether Ford would be able to maintain profits in 2027.

The company has multiple efforts that will add to costs next year: It’s rolling out several new or redesigned models, including its next-generation EV and Canada-produced pickups, and is enhancing its energy business that it announced earlier this year.

The missed revenue for the third quarter was a result of each of the automaker’s main business units – which are broken into Blue traditional operations, Pro fleet and Model e electric vehicle segments – underperforming compared with…
