Ally Pally goes gusty with new Octopus wind turbine
Octopus Energy has erected a temporary wind turbine at Alexandra Palace.
The turbine, named ‘Gusty Spinfield’, made its first appearance at Glastonbury and will now provide power for food and drink stands during this month’s outdoor events at the venue.
This installation coincides with a change in onshore wind policy in England.
The new Government has recently relaxed regulations, lifting a longstanding ban on onshore wind projects.
This move is aimed at promoting faster development of wind energy.
Zoisa North-Bond, Chief Executive Officer of Octopus Energy Generation, said: “It was fantastic to see Labour taking immediate action this week to unleash cheap, clean and secure power for Britain by streamlining planning reform for onshore wind.
“Wind energy is famously both cheaper and cleaner than fossil fuels, and we’re showing this week that it can be built quickly too.”
